Power Boating

Power boat owners are welcomed and encouraged to become active members of the SAYC. We now have powerboats in our membership ranging from 18 feet to more than 60 feet and don't forget our sailboats are powered by engines as well.

Powerboat skippers and sailors have many common interest centered around boating, racing and cruising.

Activities for powerboaters are:

  • Participating with other boaters and members in periodic "Raft Ups" and picnics along the shore of out-of-the-way special places for boaters.
  • Joining in the sailboat racing program by being the committee boat and timing events that are followed by joining friends who social activities back at our club.
  • Helping to organize and participate in the "Rally on the River" event which is a very competitive scavenger hunt that tests your navigation skills.
  • Participating as a member of the” Dragon boat" rowing team. Dragon boat racing is one of the fastest growing water sports in the country.
  • Powerboaters can also learn to sail through sailing programs sponsored by the yacht club.
  • Family fishing tournaments on the river are great events for the powerboaters to take the lead.
  • Social events and outings are a big part of the benefits that club membership offers. There are many scheduled social events throughout the year that powerboaters can enjoy. The regatta of lights and blessing of the fleet are yacht club sponsored events where all can participate and enjoy.
