Dragon Boat
SAYC Salt Run Flyers

The St. Augustine Yacht Club is proud to have a Dragon Boat team. We started our team thanks to the generous donation by Mr. John Meehan, and have just completed our third season with two bronze medals and one silver!
We are also proud to announce our co-founder; Ms. Geri Rohrbaugh was selected to represent the United States in China at the World Dragon Boat races. She came home with four bronze and one silver medal.
Dragon boating is one of the fastest growing water sports in the world. Our boat is a ten person model that holds twelve people. (there is also a 20 person boat). The crew sits facing forward and propels the boat by paddling in unison. The boats can be traced back over 2,000 years to ancient China where they were used in ceremonial races. Today our team races in regional competitions or festivals.
The Salt Run Flyers practices every other week. We have space for ten paddlers, a sweep (helmsman) and a drummer. Practices start right from the club as we launch the boat from the nearby boat ramp.
Complete the registration form and email it to me, or bring it with you to practice! You are welcome to contact me directly at 904-607-5670.
We supply the equipment and training. You supply a desire to learn and a good attitude - while getting some exercise. So come out and join the fun all while getting a good workout.
